Dankenstein's Monster |
San Diego, CA | This is a great example of an unnfiltered Double IPA. It is Dank, Bitter, and Big. West Coast Style Double IPA. It has a great aroma and hoppy flavor to match. Also with Halloween just days away the name and packaging would make a great addition to any adult party! |

Tragedy At The Sock Puppet Theater |
Glendale, CA | Ok, I admit it, the name drew me in! LOL Besides the beer being great the folks at Paperback have a nack for invienting great beer names and art work. It is well worth checking out their website. This beer is a collaboration between two California brewers - Paperback Brewing Company and Mason Ale Works. Untapp'd credits Paperback but the can says it was brewed and canned by Mason, so I added it here. In any case, it is a fairly decent IPA. Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass, this beer featured a clear (on first pour) gold color and a frothy bubbly white head with good lacing and better than average retention. Subsequent pours were a bit hazy. Aroma and taste featured some piney and citrus hop flavoring and a dry, biscuity malt presence. The nose and flavor were not all that strong and there was a moderate amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel was crisp and somewhat bitter..a nice medium richness. In all, a great beer. |

Spot On Pilsner Thirsty Planet Brewing Company
|
Austin, TX | Straw colored pilsner with good clarity, just a touch of haze initially.
Full-bodied and bready Czech-style pilsnerwith a crisp, lemongrass finish. This would be good on a hot afternoon. Personally I wish it had less lemongrass notes but that is just me. |

Funnel Cake Ale |
Dallas, TX | This beer was made for the State of Texas Fair and with that incontext it would be a good beer. There is not much of a smell but you do get a hint of funnel cake taste at the end. They use Maris Otter English malt and malted wheat to lend a crisp and bready finish. During aging, they puree and infuse whole Madagascar vanilla beans to finish off this specialty beer. I can see it going well with a corndog but over all this is a one and done for me. In other words not a session beer but I am glad I tried it. |

Tropical Terps |
Oceanside, CA | This IPA has a unique, fruity, and tropical flavor profile. The name tells it all inb that this is a Tropical fruit explosion. If you like tropical IPAs then this is for you. Terpenes bring to the juicy IPA new flavors and aromas that are unattainable from hops alone, featuring tropical notes of melons, mango, guava, and pineapple. They use Simcoe, Mosaic, Strata, and Citra hops. I must admit that I am not a Juicy IPA fan but I enjoyed this one.

Flip Flop |
Galveston, TX | This is a good example as to why you always check your dates before you purches. Flip Flop is usually a great pale lager and great summer beer. But if you look at the Date Pic you will see that this beer was canned March 20, 2023. That means this can has been in the can for a little over 7 months. Not surprisingly this also meanhs that the beer is past its prime. Still drinkable but not at its best. So why is it so old? Most likely it has been at the store and pushed back and not rotated. |
