Wrist Rocket |
Blanco, TX | This beer pours clean with just the right amount of foam. As a Blonde it has great clearity. It reminds me a lot of Firemans 4 with notes of apricot and honey with a wee bit more mouth feel while maintaining a crisp taste. This is not a shotgun beer (well for those with common since). Coming in at 8.5% this is more or a sipping beer especially on a cool spring evening in Texas perhaps with a wrist rocket and a few target set up. If you like imperials then this is one to definetly try. |

Joto One Cup Sake |
Okayama, Japan | First, yes Sake is technically a beer in Texas since it is made from a grain. Sake is made from rice which is a grain so Sake is a beer and not a wine. Wine is made from fruit and mead is made from honey. This is our first Sake to reveiw. So why now? Well I must admit that the packageing grabbed my attention. I mean Sake in a paper cup in a store, how could I refuse. I attached a package prior to opening to view. Made by Marumoto Brewery, which grows yamada nishiki, the most famous sake rice. Some of this sake is blended into this affordable, single serving to give it a fruitier style. The packagking is...... well a cup of graffiti. It comes sealed with a foil top and a plastic clear cap. While I guess you could drink it strait from the cup I prefered to pour mine in to a glass. It has a "sake" taste with a sweet fruit flavor. (The container does asy that it has hints of green grapes.) Coming in at 15% it definetly has alcohol with you can taste. For this trial I had mine chilled but I must say that I prefer my sake hot and generally with hibachi cooking. If you like Sake or just lookikng for something different then give this a try. Something fun and different! |

Estella Del Sur |
Conroe, TX | This pours with great head and the lace continues through out the session. It has a light-bodied, crisp Mexican-style lager with a balanced malt sweetness and bitterness from Simcoe hops, offering a refreshing and easy-drinking experience. It is made with Weyerman Isaria 1924 malt contributes a biscuit-like aroma. and Simcoe and Huell Melon hops. I had this in package but I am guessing that on tap at the the brewery that this beer would score much higher. If you like Mexican Lagers then this is one to try.

Playa Del Mundo
& |
Decorah, Iowa | I had high hopes for this bere. It has a great can and it pours with a great hop smell. It looks very hazy with what looks like yeast suspended in it. Make the world your beach and enjoy the tropical notes of Playa Del Mundo. Brewed in collaboration with Mundo Maya Brewing Co. of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, this IPA features Simcoe and Amarillo hops. Packaged 5/16/24 at 8:43 am. A great example of always check your dates. I am amazed that Uptapped gave this a 3.8 out of 5 and the posting show glasses with particles in them. So maybe this is how the beer was ment to be. |
