Oktoberfest

Altstadt Brewing

Fredericksburg, TX

This is a traditional classic German Märzen styles originally served at Oktoberfest. Mild hopping compliment the rich combination of Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malts which give this brew its beautiful light copper color.

With a smooth mouthfell, full-body taste ending slightly sweet. Ends with a clean taste.

Alstadt's Oktoberfest has grown to become my favaorite. If you like the Marzen style then this is one top try!!

Irish Hello

Saint Arnold Brewing Co

Houston, TX

I musrt admit that I was a wee bit surprised by this one. I was fortunet to be privilaged to a taste prior to it was released to the public and I was not sorry.

This is a dry stout and it is unexpectedly easy-drinking and thirst quenching it is while having perfectly balanced elements of roasted coffee and chocolate. Add that to the dry finish, and you’ll want another right after your first.

Made with 2-Row, Pale Chocolate, Debittered Black, Torrified Wheat an Pearl Hops.

This is now available on the market as a year round offering from Saint Arnold and is defenetly one to try if you like stouts.

Oktoberfest

Ayinger Brewing

Aying, Bravaria, Germany

Ayinger Brewing has been around for 130 years and produces some really great beers.

Their version of a Marzen is r ich, amber-golden color. Deep, inviting, malty nose and bready, wonderful flavor that’s an ode to barley. Medium to big body, with a touch of warming alcohol on the finish. Soft dryness from long maturation.

This bottle was satisfying but if you ever find this on tap go for it. On tap it is awesome.

Oktoberfest

Saint Arnold Brewing Co

Houston, TX

This is Saint Arnold's version of a Marzen. It is full bodied, malty, slightly sweet beer celebrating the Autumn harvest. This rich beer has a round malt flavor.

I have had their Oktoberfest before and really enjoyed it. This time I found it a bit more harsh than in the past. Now this may be caused by the specific bottle I had as it may have been left on a loading dock in the 100 plus temps we have been having. I will be trying it again at a different location.

Overall even given the harshness this beer is still worth the purchase.

Oktoberfest

Real Ale Brewing Co

Blanco, TX

Real Ale calls their version of an Oktoberfest a Bavarian Stuyl Lager so comparing it to a Marzen may be a bit unfair but I did it anyway.

They still use . Munich and Vienna malts which are the real heroes of this brew, resulting in a smooth, copper-colored, medium-bodied beer that’s perfect for Fall.

As a Marzen I scored it a 3.68 but as a Bavarianb Lager I believe I would score it a 4. Their website says it would go great with tacos and I would agree.
