Pils

B52 Brewing

Conroe, TX

In full discloser I had this on tap at the Watershed in Houston. If you get a chance to visit they have a great tap wall and the food is good too.

:This pours clear straw/yellow color with a great white head which has good retention and plenty of lace left behind.

Biscuit malts and light grains up front. Grassy hops and more of that wonderful malt character in the finish. Very simple, but really enjoyable.

This is a great session or anytime beer!!! I highly recommend this one.

Kalt IPA

Live Oak Brewing

Austin, TX

Live Oak does great beer but when I think of Live Oak I do not think IPA. In this case they have taken an IPA in a different direction making a Cold IPA. (Kalt means Cold in German!)

A Cold IPA is an IPA that is brewed with lager yeasts at colder temperatures creating a crisp, drinkable yet generously hopped India Pale Ale.

It is everything you could desire in a German Cold IPA.

It tips the scale at 60 IBUs and is cold-hopped for flavor and aroma with generous heaps of hand-selected hops – dank, stone-fruit and citrus.

The end product is an extra smooth crisp flavor.

If you like IPA's and want a wee bit more crispness to it then this is for you.

Warrrior American Ale

Lucky 19 Brewing

Huntsville, TX

This is an average Pale Ale. It has good lace and a nice clean neutral flavor. It is a nice session beer and would go good with BBQ or a good hamburger.

So what make this beer special? Well a part of the proceeds goes to support the Operation Red Wings Foundation which provides veterans and their families with a path to healing from their invisible wounds.

So not only is the beer good but it helps to support a great cause.

Operation Red Wings Foundation works with nonprofits and other organizations to help Veterans get the resources they deserve.

Bob's Cold One

Blue Owl Brewing

Austin, TX

This beer pours yellow clear with very light carbonation or head.

This is a, a crisp rice lager, briskly made with Lutra Kveik yeast. Bright, clean, and light, brisk. At 4% it is very crushable, shotgunable, sessionable, making this thirst-quencher your new fridge staple.

This is brewed with a Kveik yeast which brew at 90°F (32°C). and very quickly with in days and not weeks as most lagers do.

I must say that I am not a fan. It leaves a strange after taste and is way to light in body for my likeing. But if your looking for a Light Lager than this may be for you. Well worth trying.

Doc Holiday

Salloon Door Brewing

Webster, TX

This is a good example of why you should always check you dates.

This is Salloon Door'rs New England IPA which is generaslly a good beer. (I have had this before and liked it for the hazy it is.)

This beer was canned June 27, 2023 and it shows. I did not notice the date until after I poured it and noticed the floaters and bottom chunks. The bottom chunks are yeast that has dropped out. The floaters I am unsure of.

For Science I tasted it! The flavor is real tangy and not great. There is some ozidation which is to be expected with a beer that is this old. Not enjoyable.

More than likely this can was pushed back on the shelf for quite long period of time untill I finally saved it.

The moral of the story is always check your dates before you purchase!!!
