Bourbon County Stout 2021,

Goose Island Brewing

Chicago, IL

Some will say that Goose Island is big beer and they would be right but when you think of the fall and bourbon barrel aged beers Bourbon County should come to mind.

This rich Imperial Stout is blended from a mix of bourbon barrels from distilleries such as Heaven Hill, Wild Turkey, and Buffalo Trace, each aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels for 8-14 months and then bottle aged for 5 years.

Complex but well-balanced flavor that includes chocolate, vanilla and notes of the barrel. Flavors of chocolate and vanilla, oak, whiskey, and molasses, followed by caramel, berry fruit, and almond.

Pleasant warmth but not overly boozy.

Made with 2 Row, Black Malt, Caramel, Chocolagte, Munich and Roasted Barley. Hops are Millenium.

This beer is an experience best enjoyed over a long period while reading or just sitting and watching the stars on a cold night.

Bourbon Barrel Quad,

Boulevard Brewing

Kansas City, MO

Great caramel/amber color with a tan head that quickly disappeare. Smell of bourbon, Cherries and a hing of carmel. Great mouth feel. You can taste the boubon, toffe and a hint of cherry.

This abbey-style quadrupel is separated into a number of oak bourbon barrels where it ages for varying lengths of time, some for up to three years. Cherries are added to make up for the “angel's share” of beer lost during barrel aging. Selected barrels are then blended for optimum flavor. The resulting beer retains only very subtle cherry characteristics, with toffee and vanilla notes coming to the fore.

This is another great cold weather beer!

Winter Lager,

Samuel Adams

Boston, MA

It pours into a nice amber/caramel like color with a foamy white head. The beer gives off malty and toasted aromas as you lift to your nose. The taste that follows gives hints of caramel, maltiness, and slight cinnamon and nutmeg notes. Very nice traditional Christmas holiday tastes. A very smooth beer, not overly carbonated. A wonderful treat for the holiday season!

As a spiced ale I must say this one is smooth and not over done.

Snicker Doodle,

CommunityBeer Co.

Dallas, TX

An interesting Holiday beer to try. Made with Marris Otter this beer is distinctly bready and crackery malt-forward flavor.  It is infused freshly pureed vanilla beans and whole cinnamon sticks into the brew to create an amazing blend of flavors and aromas. t

While this is not a beer you will want a six pack of it is defenetly worth stepping out and trying something different for the Holiday Season>

Harpoon Dunkin Pumpkin,

Harpoon Brewing

Boston, MA

Tthis “Spiced Latte Ale” is brewed with Dunkin’ coffee, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, and lactose for a delightfully autumnal beer that’s equal parts creamy, roasty, pumpkin-y, and spiced.

Made with pale malt, wheat, Honey and Apolo hops they then add pumpkin puree, Dunkin coffe and cinnimon.

You can taste the Dunkin Coffee and pumkin spice.

This is a beer brewed for the younger generation or at least those who enjoy pumkin beers. Over all it is well done but not a style I enjoy.

  • Grain Bill: Pale Malt, Wheat, Honey
