Heather Ale

This is one of our historical recipes and could also be called a gruit.
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale).

Before Hops where introduced into brewing it was common to use flowers or roots to help better the beer.   In this case heather is used to form a unique taste and a wee bit of history.
