Boombox DBL IPA, Real Ale Brewing Blanco, TX

I should for the record state that I am a big double IPA fan and my friends at Real Ale have done a fantastic job with this one. This big box of hops delivers pounding amounts of hop flavor and aroma. Focused on immense late additions of El Dorado, Amarillo, Idaho 7, and Strata, this double IPA brings the noise, bouncing beats off of a simple malt canvas of American 2-row barley and light caramel malt. If your a Double IPA fan this is one not to miss.

Shiner 1909, Spoezl Brewery Shiner, TX Clear gold; small white head that dissipates quickly. Saazy, not power-packed but not too hard to like if you're a saaz fan. Easy drinking, thirst quenching, and light. If you like American Lagers then this is one to try. I had hoped that it would taste as good at their Kosmo but sadly it did not. Dunkel Breakin' My Heart,

Klaus Brewing

Houston, TX

Complex yet still session-able, this beer has subtle chocolate overtones supported by a rich noble hops to balance the maltiness of this beer with moderately low bitterness & a touch of spiciness. Has a bit more residual sugar than I would want but worth trying.

Thirsty Goat,

Thirsty Planet Brewing Company

Austin, TX

Reddish Amber almost copper draft pour; thick beige head; decent cap and retention; pretty good lace and clarity. Semi sweet caramel nose; semi sweet caramel malt flavor. Lite, almost watery mouthfeel; moderate carbonation. Slight candy after taste.

This is a style that is not done often but this is a good example of how to do it.

Fracker IPA,

Southern Star

Conroe, TX

A good amount of tropical fruit and citrus with hints of coconut. Hazy, medium bodied. The hops ( Sabro & Azzacca) are present enough that you know it's an IPA, but very subtle. No aroma to speak of. Good Carbonation and has a spicy finish. It's hoppy and dry. Other flavors are too subtle.

In full discloser I am allergic to coconut and because of that I tend to not like the flavor.
